Movie Review - The Amazing Spiderman 2 (SPOILER ALERT)

The Amazing Spiderman 2 - Movie Review
Finally, I've met the spidey in IMAX 3D, no less.

Prior to this, I've seen quite a mixed reviews regarding this second installment of the Spiderman reboot. As I always said, movie preference is very subjective and seeing is believing. Hence, I am here to give my 2-cents worth of personal review.

As the title said, this review will be filled with spoiler, hence, if you are going to watch it and don't want to be ruined by the spoiler(s), you may want to stop reading right now, right here! Else, proceed at your own risks.

THE STORY :

There are two main plots in the movie: a. the love relationship between Peter and Gwen Stacy. A lot screen time are spent in depicting Peter's struggles in whether to keep the promise (to Gwen's deceased father) or to follow his heart. b. Uncovering the plan of Oscorp (including the secret/disappearance of Peter Parker's father, Richard Parker). The Villains with super power (Electro, Green Goblin and Rhino) are kind of by the way product. Oh, that include Spider-man himself too.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE MOVIE:

a. The chemistry between Andrew Garfield (Peter) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) is electrifying. I guess their off-screen relationship does add-up to the chemistry. Also, the performance of Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Sally Field (Aunt May) are commendable.

b. The Special Effect is top notch to say the least. The web slinging sequence is really a joy to watch and the final fighting sequence between Spider-man and Electro is the highlight.

c. The overall pace of the movie is just nice. Not a non-stop action flick while it does provide enough emotional moments between Peter, Gwen and Aunty May.

e. The tone of the movie especially the way Spider-man swing into action which is care-free and comical at times.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THE MOVIE:

a. The death of Gwen Stacy. I know Gwen Stacy died in the comic but I thought it would be a better option for her to die in the next installment so that the chemistry between Peter and Gwen can be further developed in the next serving.

b. The Rhino. I feel that it will be better off for the Rhino to appear in the next installment only since the last 4 to 5 minutes of its appearance doesn't go anywhere.

c. The sudden change of Eletro (Max) from a die-hard fan of Spider-man to the die-hard hater is not convincing enough. Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) is kind of weak and only shows up for less than 5 minutes.
The Amazing Spiderman 2

MY OVERALL RATING :

3.5 (out of 5 STARS)

Not a classic but it is still a super-entertaining superhero movie.

Have you watched the movie? What is your review?

Cheers!

P/S: Contrary to what has been reported, there is no extra scene after the ending credits, so, there is no need to wait for it ;-)
