Superb Superhero Movies And Comics Mashup

superhero comic and movie mashup spiderman
If you are a superhero fan, I am sure you know that all the superheros movie franchise like Spiderman, Ironman, Thor, Captain America etc... are originated from Marvel's Comic books dated back to 60s and 70s.

How would it look like if there is a crossover between the original comics characters and the movie scene? I think it would be pretty cool. In fact, an artist named Butcher Billy has created an art series that replaces live-action Marvel movie superheroes/villains with classic comic book characters. The series is called "The Superhero Media Crossover Project". That's it! Seeing is believing!

As per Billy, the reason for his creation are....(source: GeekTyrant):

It’s easy to forget how much the comic stylings of the 60’s and 70’s have inspired modern films and just how timeless those two-dimensional, spandex-clad superheroes can be. This series replaces live action with the lines they were born from, interlacing cinematography with storyboard.

Now! Enjoy 10 of the art pieces from Butcher Billy...

pacific rimOne of my MUST WATCH sci-fi in 2013 is non other than Pacific Rim, even though the casts like Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman might sound unfamiliar to many but I am pretty sure that the visionary director, Guillermo del Toro, will make it work, some how or other.

To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee —who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Jurassic Park 4 - Colin Trevorrow Is The Confirmed Director

jurassic park 4It is more or less official that Colin Trevorrow will be the director for the upcoming Jurassic Park 4. So, Steven Spielberg will not be back for the sequel. The news was announced by the producer, Frank Marshall via Twitter.

So who is this exciting young filmmaker (exact words used by Frank)? Most of us might not know him (yet). He is the director of 2012's Safety Not Guarantee (a sci-fi comedy). Personally I have not watch the movie but basing on the consumer rating in IMDB.com, the movie garnered 7.1 stars (out of 10 stars). Not bad at all considering this is his very first movie!

Keep reading to find out more details about Colin Trevorrow:

G I Joe Retaliation - New IMAX Poster and TV Spots

g.i.joe retaliation
Finally, G.I.Joe Retaliation is really coming soon to the theatres near us. The reason why I said so is because this sequel to the 2009's G.I. Joe The Rise Of Cobra has been postponing for a few times because of the post production conversion into 3D and IMAX.

Usually, I would not recommend post production conversion type of 3D movie, however, basing on the trailers released so far, I am sold and so gonna watch it in IMAX 3D. MGM has just released a new IMAX Poster featuring the badass Snake Eyes and 2 TV spots. Especially like the cliff-side battle of the ninjas in the first TV spot!!!!!

Short synopsis of G.I.Joe Retaliation (source: GeekTyrant):

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy, Cobra, they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson.

Now, enjoy the kick-ass IMAX poster and TV spots.

Who's Who In Oz The Great And Powerful [Infographic]

Oz The Great And Powerful tops the US box office with a whopping US$80.2 Millions (and more than US$150 Millions globally) last week. With such a sterling box office sale, sequel is already in the talk.

I am a Sam Raimi's fan (ever since his Spider-man trilogy) and thus is looking forward to watch the movie. I must admit that I have not seen the Oz The Great And Powerful yet (as can't get a good seating in the IMAX Theatre), but with such a huge response from the international market, I thought it is necessary for me to create an Infographic just for the movie as a tribute to its success. Hence, the born of today's post.

So, here you are, the first Infographic created by Ultimate 3D Movies blog and I simply called it "Who's Who In Oz The Great And Powerful". This being my first Infographic (created using MS PowerPoint 2007 in less than 2 hours), I must apologize for its under-par quality if you deemed it so. However, I enjoyed creating it, thus, it would be helpful if you can provide some feedback in the comment section.

Now, enjoy the Infographic...

Weekly Box Office Movies in US (Ending 2013/03/10)

Here are the TOP 5 Movies from US for the week ending 10th March 2013 (Sun).

SPECIAL NOTE : As expected, Sam Raimi's prequel to Wizard Of Oz, Oz The Great And Powerful (James Franco, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz) took the box office by storm last week and effortlessly claimed the top spot with a whopping 80.3 millions.

Globally, it has already grossed $150 millions. In terms of ticket sale, it is already the best movie so far. Basing on the promising movie critics and words of mouth, it seems to be able to maintain quite well in the coming week(s).

The other new release, Dead Man Down (Action thriller by Colin Farrell and Noomi Repace) opened meagrely at fourth place.

Interstellar - Your MUST WATCH Sci-Fi in 2014

interstellar, christopher nolan
Inception and the last Batman Trilogy fans listen carefully, the visionary director, Christopher Nolan has bagged his latest Sci-fi project, Intersteller and it will be released on 7th Nov 2014, in IMAX.

It will be jointly distributed by Warner Bros and Paramount. So far, no news on the casts yet but basing on the past history, my guess is probably Christian Bale (aka the Batman), Tom Hardy (Bane in The Dark Knight Rises) or Guy Pearce could be in the project.

The good news is Nolan will write  and direct, based on a script by his brother Jonathan Nolan. Briefly, the movie is about  “ a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding” built out of the theories of theoretical physicist, gravitational physicist and astrophysicist Kip Thorne (source: slashfilm.com).

Star Trek Into Darkness - Latest Teaser Trailer [May 2013]

star trek into darkness new teaser trailer
Coming May 2013, you will be spoiled of choices of blockbuster movies in the theatre near you. Besides the Iron Man 3, the other big budget blockbuster sequel that I am waiting for is Star Trek Into Darkness.

Yesterday, Paramount Pictures has released the new action-packed teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness. Frankly, prior to the reboot of the 2009 Star Trek, I am only a Star Wars fan and now, I am both! ;-)

The new teaser trailer definitely up the ante of my likeness towards Star Trek franchise. Star Trek Into Darkness will be released on 17th May 2013 and the IMAX 3D format will be released 2 days earlier on 15th May 2013.

Short synopsis of Star Trek Into Darkness (source: GeekTyrant):

In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
