Guest Review - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
My friend, Ben is at it again! I mean the movie review. This time round, he is reviewing about the much talked about latest reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Seeing is believing but hope your can get some hint from hint. Check out his review below :

SPOILER ALERT!!

If you live long enough, you will see your childhood memories being reboot back. Sometimes, like GI Joe and Garfield, it would be barely acceptable, while most of the times, like Transformer 4 and The Smurf, you would wish they leave those loving memories alone.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or TMNT as it was more commonly known as, was one such example. Those born in my era would instantly know which turtle bearing the name of an Renaissance artist wielded which type of Ninja weapon. And probably thanks to TMNT, we could name 4 Renaissance painters.

I have heard bad reviews on TMNT, hence watched with little expectation, that helped as the overall experiences weren't that bad as I would have imagine. TMNT 2014 is your atypical summer action movie, over used on CGI on a nonsensical plot. (Shredder looked exactly like a Transformer reject, saving cost perhaps)

Being a Michael Bay production, his trademarks were unmistakable. Everything is about explosion and effects, and little on plot and character development. On top of that, his style of fuck logic way of storytelling was all over the place.

How did shredder turn up on the top of building when moments ago he was fighting Raphael? 'coz fuck the logic.

Why would Sacks decide to deploy the weapon without even testing the mutagen he just collected? 'coz fuck the logic.

Splinter learned Ninjatsu through a book? 'coz fuck pretty much everything else

Another of Bay's trademark is his blatant product placement, guess which pizza store did the turtles have the pizza?

Throughout the movie, I was distracted by the female henchmen of the foot clans, she looked uncanny like our homegrown talented diva, Sun Ho, and I was hoping she would do a China wine twerk in the movie.

I wished they had stick to the original backstory of Splinter being a actual sinsei and his freud with Shredder, here the backstory was completely different and it made no sense for Splinter knowing Shredder's plan and how the duo seemed to have an axe to grind when they finally met in the sewer.

In addition, how hard can that be to make the turtles and Splinter likable? Coming from the recent "Guardians of the Galaxy" which successfully made a walking tree and talking raccoon lovable, the turtles looked like lobos. worst certain shot the 4 turtles looked like giant penis heads surrounding April O'Neil, which was played by Megan Fox, a actress that's known by her curvatures than the actual acting.

Overall, go and see with little expectation. TMNT 2014 wasn't as bad the last TMNT movie but certainly not the better of, plus it was mercifully short, clocking in less than 2 hours screen time. 2 out of 5

Cheers!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - New Poster And 3 Nwe TV Spots (Aug 2014)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the upcoming Michael Bay-produced movie looks set draw back the Ninja Turtles fans around the world into the big screen again. Initially, when the first trailer was released a couple of months ago, it received searing online condemnation that their beloved Ninja turtles look too ugly for their liking, some even demanded for a re-shoot or else the fans will boycott the reboot.

From the subsequent release of the medias, it is clear that Paramount is very confidence with their version of ninja turtles and hence we see no further enhancement/improvement, especially on the facial features of the ninja turtles (which is the main complaint).

Today, I am sharing the latest new poster and 3 new TV spots of the movie. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released in 3D on 8th August 2014.

Now, enjoy the poster and TV spots below.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - New Trailer Plus 3 New Character Posters (Aug 2014)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
As expected, since my sharing of the new character poster of Leonardo (click here to view), here come even more character posters plus a cool new trailer.

Produced by Michael Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans), this reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set to repaint how the turtles (or the ninjas, whatever) looks like, facially!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released on 8th August 2014 in 3D and following is the short synopsis (source : GeekTyrant.com):

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - New Character Poster of Leonardo (Aug 2014)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
When the first trailer was released sometime back, many fans are criticising the "ugly" version of Jonathan Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I can understand why. It just don't have the cuteness that the ninjas used to have.

Recently, Paramount Pictures has released a new character poster featuring Leonardo (leader of the Ninja Turtles and voiced by Johnny Knoxville) and to be frank, it doesn't make it any cuter! ;-)

The reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released in the big screens on 8th August 2014 and following is the short synopsis (source : Geektyrant.com) :

TMNT - Second New Trailer (August 2014)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Here come the second trailer of TMNT (short for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)! When the first trailer released a couple of weeks ago, the TMNT die-hard fans curse and swear, especially on the look of their beloved childhood idols, I means turtles. To be frank, most of them got a point as the new version of ninja turtle does look kind of ugly! I hope there is some explanation going on in the movie..

In any case, I am still putting an high hope on this movie to be an entertaining one, especially on the action sequences. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman and starring Megan Fox, William Fitchner, Whoopi Goldberg and Alan Ritchson. Short synopsis of TMNT (source : IMDB.com) :

Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O'Neil and her cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan

TMNT - New 4 Teaser Posters Featuring Their Weapons (Aug 2014)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser Poster
Since the released of the first trailer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) in late March 2014 (click here if you have not seen it), many fans have voiced their unhappiness (online and offline) especially about the facial features of their beloved turtles.

Anyway, personally don't think it is that bad, just a bit less cute because it is closer to the real thing. Now, let's forget about the face and focus on what the turtles do best: fighting, and the weapons they are using.

In the newly released teaser posters (4 of them) which showcasing the weapons used by the Ninja Turtles, which one you like best?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released in big screen on 8th August 2014 in 3D and IMAX 3D.

Promotional Banner For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Aug 2014)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Last week, the very first trailer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released online and I've received mixed reaction from my friends in social networking space. Personally, I quite like what I've seen and noticed that the Ninja Turtles are too close to the real stuff and make it uneasy to look at (at first glance).

Produced by Michael Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman, it looks set to be a fun ride filled with high octane action sequence. I am looking forward to its released on 8th August 2014. Prior to this, I am sure there will be more media to be released soon.

If you've missed the earlier trailer, check it out here. Else, take a look at the new promotional banner below.

What do you think about the above banner?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - First Trailer Looks Promising To Me (Aug 2014)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Finally! The very first trailer of very tight-lip Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is HERE!

Produced by Michael Bay (hence spectacular special effect is expected) and directed by Jonathan Liebesman (whom last brought us Wrath of Titans in 2012). The casts include Megan Fox and Will Arnett. The full synopsis has not been disclosed (that's why I mentioned earlier about the tight-lip part), but following are some sneak peek of what to expect :

"The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan."
