Iron Man 3 - The Latest Movie Poster

iron man 3 There is still about 4 more months before we get to watch the third instalment of the popular super-hero franchise, Iron Man 3, but their marketing effort will kick-off officially from this weekend's Superbowl in US. As reported, a brand new trailer will be aired during the event.

Meanwhile, Marvel has released a brand new movie poster as a teaser to the audience. It looks kind of anti-hero to me (or at least showing that Iron Man is in huge trouble) and probably they just grab it from one of the scene in the movie.

Enjoy...

Journey To The West - Conquering The Demons (西游降魔篇) [Feb 2013]

Journey to the west - Conquering the demons (西游降魔篇)Next month (Feb 2013) is the Chinese New Year. As per the Chinese New Year tradition, the movie scene in the Asian countries will be bustling with movies that specifically made for the Chinese New Year, mainly comedy.

Journey to the west - Conquering the demons (西游降魔篇) is one of such movie. Directed by one of the most popular comedian in Asia, Stephen Chow (周星驰) (last seen in CJ7,  [長江七號],2008) and with sterling casts from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan. It is one of the Chinese New Year movie NOT to be missed. The main casts are Shu Qi (舒淇), Wang Hao (黄渤) and Wen Zhang (文章).

This is the kind of movie that you need to make sure leaving your "brain" outside of the theatre as the one and only objective of the movie is to make the audience laugh through visual impact (as confirmed by the director himself too). It certainly looks like a brand new version of Journey To The West (a famous Chinese classical novel) that never been seen before!

The other important news is that the movie will be released in 3D as well as IMAX 3D formats, which is rare for a Chinese movie. Thus lots of Hollywood standard special effect is expected!

Journey to the west - Conquering the demons (西游降魔篇) will be released in Singapore (and most other Asian countries) from 7th Feb 2013 onwards. Hope that those of you in the west have the chance to see this movie in the near future.

Now, enjoy the trailers, posters and movie stills that I've compiled for you below.

Weekly Box Office Movies in US (Ending 2013/01/27)

hansel and gretel witch hunters
Here are the TOP 5 Movies from US for the week ending 27th January 2013 (Sun).

SPECIAL NOTE : As expected, one of the 3D extravaganza Hansel And Gretel : Witch Hunters  (with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton) tops the chart of the week. Mama retains strongly at second spot.

The other new release, Parker (with Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez) opened disappointingly at the fifth place. As per the tag line of the movie "To get away clean, you have to play dirty", I guess the movie is not "dirty" enough to attract enough audience! ;-)

Guillermo del Toro's Works From the Eye Of Cartoonist

guillermo del toro
Nowadays, the name Guillermo del Toro is everywhere. He is the executive producer of recent successful animation, Rise Of The Guardians and Mama (the horror movie that tops the movie chart is USA this week). He is also the director of the upcoming monster size Sci-fi (pun intended) Pacific Rim.

So, who is he? He was born in 1964 in Mexico and his first Hollywood blockbuster movie is Mimic (1997, click on the image below for more details). He is famous for creating intense horror sequence and at the same time still manage to inject some level of humour into the movie.

Jeff Victor, the well known online cartoonist has recently released a cartoon to showcase the works of Guillermo del Toro (as director) over the years. I have shared his earlier cartoon a few times in this blog and I thought this is a great follow-up.

Enjoy!

How 3D Works And The Difference Betwen Regular 3D and IMAX 3D [Video]

IMAX 3d 101
Some time back, I posted a question via thumb app (an iOS app where you can post any question for other users to response with Thumb Up or Thumb Down) as to whether they like 3D movie. You know what? Only about 30% respondents said they like 3D movie.

This might not reflect much but I do believe that not all people like 3D movies, it could be due to the higher ticket price, the uncomfortable 3D glasses or just simply don't like the 3D experience. For me, I liked 3D movies as they provided additional depth to the special effects and/or majestic scene. The effect is even more prominent if it's IMAX 3D. Just imagine the difference between 2D and 3D for the fighting scene in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey".

So, how does 3D works and what is the difference between regular 3D and IMAX 3D? This is exactly the topic that I am going to cover today and believe it or not, you should be able to answer these 2 important questions after watching this very educational 2 and a half minutes video.

Enjoy! ;-)

Yet another early morning (1.21am to be exact), restless mind with lots of stuff (currently still residing inside my head) can't wait to be released into the blog. So, you will see me more often in 2013! ;-)

First thing first, since this personal  blog is focusing more on the inspirational stuff, I would like to share 5 of my recent collection of inspirational quotes (not mine). If you follow my blog regularly, you will notice that my previous quotes sharing are mostly text base, I am making a change in 2013 to share them in a more graphical format.

Hansel And Gretel Witch Hunters 3D (Jan 2013)

hansel and gretel witch hunters 3d
Hansel And Gretel, the popular fairy tale from Brother Grimm has a new twist  in this latest adaptation. Instead of the innocent brother and sister, Hansel and Gretel are now bounty hunters who track and kill witches like nobody's business.

Lead by Jeremy Renner (as Hansel) and Gemma Arterton (as Gretel), this latest adaptation was directed by Norwegion director Tommy Wirkola whom brought us Dead Snow in 2009 (click on the image below for more details).

Somehow, the movie poster and trailer of Hansel And Gretel Witch Hunters reminded me of Sherlock Holmes (the one from Robert Downey Jr). Except that the main characters are dealing more with the like of werewolves and witches. What do you think?

My Prediction Of The 85th Annual Academy Awards Winners (OSCARS)

oscars, 85th academy awards 2013
The Golden Globe Awards Winners have been established, it is time for us to move on to the "main dish", which is the Oscars. The Academy Awards 2013 will be conducted on 24th February 2013 at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center.

Meanwhile, let's take a look at the nominees for all the 24 categories. This year, Lincoln earned  a leading 12 nominations followed by Lee Ang's Life Of Pi (11 nominees). Both Les Miserables and Silver Linings Playbook are tied at 8 nominees each.

Following the tradition of Golden Globe winners prediction, I am going to do the same for the Oscars winners (my predictions are highlighted in yellow). Wish me luck!;-)

The other two new releases A Haunted House (a spoof comedy by Marlon Wayans) and Gangster Squad (with Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling) took second and third spot respectively. Jurassic Park in 3D and Jurassic Park 4

jurassic park 3
I am pretty sure many of you have watched the very first installment of Jurassic Park (1993) . The scene whereby two kids were being terrorised by the dinosaurs still lingering in your head. It has been 20 years since, can you believed it?

On its 20th anniversary, Universal Studios decided to re-release the Jurassic Park in 3D and IMAX on 5th April 2013 (US). It's time to rekindle with the giant species and the classic  piece of work from the visionary director, Steven Spielberg. He also directed the sequel, The Lost World - Jurassic Park (1997) and the last installment, Jurassic Park III (2001) was directed by Joe Johnston.

Another piece of good news is that the project for Jurassic Park 4 has been confirmed and Universal Studios has announced the release date as 13 June 2014 (still about another one-and-a-half year to go though). It will be shot in 3D but will not be directed by Steven Spielberg (he will be assuming the role of Producer). Universal Studios is still searching for the suitable director.

Now, enjoy the newly released trailer for the Jurassic Park 3D below!

Jack The Giant Slayer - 5 New Giant Character Posters

jack the giant slayer
The upcoming fairy tale adaptation, Jack The Giant Slayer, has just been released with 5 new character posters and the focus is on the GIANTS.

Personally, I don't find these giant character posters fascinating but I guess New Line Cinema just wanted to highlight to the audience that giants will be the main characters in the movie (just like the hobbits are the main characters in The Hobbit).

Brief Synopsis of Jack The Giant Slayer (source: GeekTyrant):

Jack the Giant Slayer tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants.
Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend–and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

Pacific Rim - New Trailer from CES

pacific rim, scifi
The highly anticipated sci-fi in 2013 by acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro, Pacific Rim has just released a new trailer at Consumer Electronics Show (CES), currently taking place in Las Vegas. This awesome new trailer provide more new footage and featuring more fighting scene between the giant robot and the giant monster.

Pacific Rim will only be released in Jul 2013 but from the previous blockbusters like Pan's Labyrinth (2006), HellBoy (2004) and HellBoy II - The Golden Army (2008), I am pretty sure that Guillermo del Toreo will bring us another giant fun ride. Stay tune!
