Into The Storm - First Trailer : This Is How All The Twister Movie Should Looks

Into The Storm
Personally, I like natural disaster movies a lot. Especially those involved twisters (e.g. Twister in 1996) or volcano eruption (Dante's Peak in 1997).

Into The Storm, the upcoming natural disaster movie from Warner Bros fit my bill perfectly. At this stage, I am not sure whether it will be in 3D or IMAX but who cares? The important thing is it intrigued me ;-)

Into The Storm was directed by James Cameron protege Steven Quale (Final Destination 5 in 2011) and starring Richard Armitage and Sarah Wayne Callies. Here's the synopsis (source : GeekTyrant) :

In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.

Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, "Into the Storm" throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.

Into The Storm will be released on 8th August 2014. Now, enjoy the stormy trailer below.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Produced by Michael Bay (hence spectacular special effect is expected) and directed by Jonathan Liebesman (whom last brought us Wrath of Titans in 2012). The casts include Megan Fox and Will Arnett. The full synopsis has not been disclosed (that's why I mentioned earlier about the tight-lip part), but following are some sneak peek of what to expect :

"The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan."

Jupiter Ascending - The Latest Trailer Look Much Cooler (Jul 2014)

Jupiter Ascending
To be frank, Jupiter Ascending is kind of came out from nowhere and suddenly lots of online mentioning about this upcoming sci-fi. Directed by the Wachowski brother-sister team (Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski) whom last brought us the classics that change the sci-fi genre i.e. The Matrix Trilogy. They also directed the memorable V For Vendetta.

Starred by Mila Kunis (as titular Jupiter) and Channing Tatum. Following is the synopsis of the movie (source : GeekTyrant):

Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things.  Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks.

Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along – her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

The vision of the futuristic space (wherever it is) in the trailer looks awesome and lots of variation of spaceship are expected. Hence, Sci-fi fans will love this! Jupiter Ascending will hit the big screen on 18th July 2014 in 3D and IMAX 3D.

Now, enjoy the new trailer below and let us know what do you think?

Edge Of Tomorrow - Sneak Peak Of The Upcoming Trailer (June 2014)

Edge of tomorrow trailer
Edge Of Tomorrow, the upcoming sci-fi by Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt is one of the my most anticipated movies this year.

Directed by Doug Liman whom last brought us Mr and Mrs Smith (2005) and Jumper (2008).
Following is the synopsis (source : imdb.com) :

The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders.

But now the world’s armies have joined forces for a last stand offensive against the alien horde, with no second chances. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped—untrained and ill-equipped—into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die again…and again.

Dark Noir - A Very Nicely Done Animated Short Film

Dark Noir Animation
Dark Noir is not a 3D movie. In fact, it is not even a featured movie.

Dark Noir is an animated short film from Red Knuckles animation studio (written and directed by comic book creator Rafael Grampá).

The visual is stunning.Fill with lots of monsters and still room for imagination.

It blend the animation and comic to the perfection.

I can't resist to share it here even though it is not a 3D movie. I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers!

Godzilla - Awesome New International Trailer With New Footage (May 2014)

Godzilla 2014
May 2014 will be a massive month for movie fans, besides superhero sequels, The Amazing Spiderman and X-Men Days Of Future Past, the fairy tale retold in Maleficent and of course the reboot of GODZILLA (2014).

Warner Bros has just released a new international trailer with lots of new footage, especially the destruction. Not sure it is me alone, I am kind of addicted to the mythic sound at the end of the trailer (not sure from what kind of instrument or sound mixer). Are you?

Following is the short synopsis of Godzilla :

The world's most famous monster is pitted against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Oh, by the way, in case you don't know, Bryan Cranston (from the Breaking Bad fame) is the lead cast in this reboot. Godzilla will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 16th May 2014. Now, keep reading for the new trailer.

Maleficent poster Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie is back to the big scree, as the iconic villain, Maleficent, of popular fairy tale, The Sleeping Beauty.

Just a while ago, Walt Disney Pictures has released a teaser trailer (focusing on how Angelina Jolie aka Maleficent flexes her wing) and the third full-length trailer. Both clips look promising. Following is the short synopsis of the movie (source : Wikipedia.com) :

"Maleficent" explores the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king's newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora (Elle Fanning) is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realises that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever."

How Far Has Cinemas Changed Over Time? (Infographic)

Infographic on cinemas changes
In its very humble beginning, cinemas way back in 1920s are showing films in silent and black and white. Fast forward to the presently, we have 3D (and even 4D for some theatres) and IMAX capabilities.

Thanks to Cineworld, they have recently produced a very informative infographic comparing the old (back in 1920s) and new cinemas (present days). Oh boy! It has definitely came a long way and I am sure movie buff will find this interesting. In fact, this is the first time I come across the D-Box, the seats that move and vibrate in sync with the on screen action and hence creating an immersive experience (this is where the fourth D in 4D came from).

Now, check out the infographic below.

Captain America - The Winter Soldier : This Falcon Featurette Is Equally Badass

Captain America - The Winter Soldier Falcon Featurette
Captain America - The Winter Soldier will be here in a couple of weeks time. If you have not already watched the 4-minutes extended clip, you must check it out here.

So far, I am very happy with what I have seen, be it posters, trailers or TV spots. All seems to be as awesome as it could be. I believed it will be a hell of fun ride again! Oh boy, that reminds me of Iron Man and The Avengers.

Anyway, the newly released featurette on Falcon is equally badass and it makes it (the featurette series) a complete one.

Captain America - The Winter Soldier will hit the big screen, in IMAX and IMAX 3D as well, on 4th April 2014.

Now, enjoy the latest featurette below.

Transcendence - This Featurette Will Tell You What It's ALl About (April 2014)

Transcendence Featurette with Johnny Depp
Transcendence is one of my most anticipated sci-fi in 2014. Besides the huge casts from A-Lists like Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murphy and Kate Mara. The story/plot seems to be one of its kind and full of controversy.

Today, I chanced upon a new featurette that finally throw some lights into "what the hack is this movie all about"? In fact, it makes me wanted to watch it even more. To its core, it is a movie about "what would happen if you combine a human brain with the super powerful artificial intelligence brain(s)?"Is it a good thing or bad thing?

Transcendence will be released on 17th April 2014, in IMAX as well.

Now, take a look at the featurette below.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 - Two New International TV Spots (May 2014)

The Amazing Spiderman 2 - International TV Spots
Superheroes movie franchises from either Marvel Comics (e.g. Spiderman, Iron Man etc..) or DC Comics (e.g. Superman, Batman etc...) will usually do well when adapted into big screen. Hence, sequels is kind of expected.

In the month of May, my most anticipated superhero sequel is The Amazing Spiderman 2. All the casts and crews were re-teamed to produce the second serving of the reboot. Basing on all the media released so far, it is pretty cool! Electrifying-ly cool (pun intended).

Recently, there are 2 more international TV spots being circulated online with a few new footage. The Amazing Spiderman 2 will be released on 2nd May 2014 in IMAX and IMAX 3D.

Now, enjoy the 2 new TV spots below.

Captain America - The Winter Soldier : The New 4 Minutes Extended Clip Added More Depth To The Characters

Captain America - The Winter Soldier
I am happy that every time there is new media release for Captain America - The Winter Soldier, it just keep introducing new footage that add depth to the characters. In this instance, for the newly released 4-minutes extended clip, you can see more of Black Widow (Scarlett Johnsson).

I am so looking forward to watch the sequel in IMAX 3D as the special effect are simply top-notch and looks like awesomeness to the max.

Steve Rogers (Captain America) struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.

Sin City : A Dame To Kill For - The First Trailer (Aug 2014)

Frank Miller's Sin City A Dame To Kill For
9 years after the first adaptation from his own graphic novel, Frank Miller is back again for the second serving of dark, cool and sleek graphically enriched sequel, Sin City : A Dame To Kill For.

Except Jessica Alba and Bruce Willis, there are quite a number of A lists casts join-in the fun (trust me, it is fun to watch and thus I am sure it is fun and cool to be part of the project too). To quote just a few : Josh Brolin, Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Eva Green.

Short synopsis of Sin City : A Dame To Kill For (Source : GeekTyrant) :

The town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. Dwight (Josh Brolin) is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord (Eva Green), and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film Frank Miller’s Sin City) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

300 Rise Of An Empire : Early Guest Review

300 rise of an empireMy trustworthy guest reviewer - Ben is in it again! This time round, he is reviewing the Spartan-ful sequel, 300 - Rise Of An Empire.

Without further ado, check out his review below:

“Should 300 have a sequel?” that’s the question that came to my mind before watching “300: Rise of an Empire”. The reason is 300 was a ground-breaking movie in the usage of CGI and lighting effects. The deployment of the sl-mo action sequences became the benchmark and copied by many movies subsequently.

After watching “300: Rise of an Empire” my conclusion is depending on how much you like “300” as “300: Rise of an Empire” is the EXACT REPLICA of “300”
- Clashes of 2 leaders
- The “good” guys were significantly out-numbered and yet managed to hold their vault
- Usage of battle tactics
- Father-n-son tag team into the war and you know one will die in the arms of the other
- A meeting between the 2 leaders in an erotic settings
- Plenty of hunky men in their underwear
- Naked boobs galore

With exactly the same action sequences filled with slo-mo movement and gore, it was easy to have a sense of deja-vu.

After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.
