Weekly Box Office Movies in US, Singapore and Malaysia (#12-20120610)

Here are the TOP 5 Movies for the week ending 10th June 2012 (Sun).

SPECIAL NOTE: This week, there are 2 releases of big budget blockbusters: Prometheus and Madagascar 3 - Europe's Most Wanted. What surprises me is that Madagascar 3 over-took Prometheus to tops the chart in all market and Prometheus only managed to secure the second place. I've watched the Prometheus in IMAX 3D but have not watch Madagascar, thus not able to provide any comparison here. Having said that, personally viewed that Prometheus is not an instant classic materials but it is still worth the tickets purely because of the director's vision and the sterling performance by the lead actors/actresses.

Another thing worth mentioning is that this week, the box offices in US and Singapore are identical and out of the 5 movies, 4 are in 3D!

Prometheus IMAX 3D (Jun 2012)

In Greek Mythology, Prometheus is a titan (the similar kind of titan like Zeus in "Wrath Of The Titans"), a champion of mankind, said to have shaped humans out of clay and endowed them with the spark of life. Under the hand of Ridley Scott (the great director who brought us the classics like Alien installment and Blade Runner, to name just a few), it is a Sci-Fi with great intend. With the tagline of "The search for the beginning could lead to our end", there could be some connection with the Prometheus of Greek!

Again, the trailer looks promising but the movie poster is a bit of let down though. In any case, Prometheus is still one of my MUST WATCH movie in June 2012 and I am getting myself ready for an awesome visual treat. By the way, one thing worth highlighting is that the lead actress, Noomi Repace, is the same GIRL that acted in the original Sweden version of Millennium Trilogy (The Girl With Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest).
