New Hot Trailers Not To Be Missed (#8) - Total Recall (2012), Hotel Transylvania, Frankenweenie

Here come the latest hot trailers for the upcoming 3D/IMAX movies. 

In this post, all of them are reboot or sequel (Total Recall Aug 2012 - by Colin Farell], Resident Evil - Retribution [Sequel - Sep 2012] and Monsters University [Sequel - 2013]).

1. Total Recall - Trailer 2 [Aug 2012]:

Yet another reboot! Some title with the 1990's version (by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone). Basing on the trailer, except for the movie title and the similar machine used to "recall" (or "reset") the memories, there seems to be no link between the 1990 and 2012 version. 

2. Hotel Transylvania - Trailer 2 [Sep 2012]:
An animation about dracula and monsters (voiced by Adam Sandler).

3. Frankenweenie - Trailer 2 [Oct 2012]:

An animation in black and white by visionary director, Tim Burton. It is about doing a frankenstein on a dog! Go figure...

Weekly Box Office Movies in US, Singapore and Malaysia (#14-20120624)

Here are the TOP 5 Movies for the week ending 24th June 2012 (Sun).

SPECIAL NOTE (US): This week, there are 2 new releases: Brave (Pixer's latest animation) and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (a horror and fantasy genre). Brave tops the chart with better than expected result whereas the Axe wielding Vampire Hunter failed to make a big bang in the US box office (I've watched the premiere and find it very entertaining with one of the best slo-mo fighting sequences I've ever seen).

Short Preview on "The Amazing Spiderman" And "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter"

Managed to catch the movie premiere for "The Amazing Spider-man" and "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" on Monday/Tuesday respective. Both movies are about HEROES, one being super-hero and the other, the nation hero.

Following are my short preview and hope it helps in your decision in picking up the movies to watch:

1. The Amazing Spider-man (3D):

A reboot with similar story line from brand new casts. Andrew Garfield (Spiderman) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) both live up to my expectation in the lead roles. As per the earlier Spiderman movie, the villain (aka The Lizard) is a scientist turned monster creature. Even though the director go on a darker/gloomier tone for this reboot but it still splashes with many memorable funny moments.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Worth To watch it in 3D? : Yes 

(look out for the different angles of web-swinging sequences)

2. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (3D): 

A history retold with a fantasy touch. In this case, Abraham Lincoln being the vampire hunter! After watching his mother died from a fatal touch of a vampire when young, Abraham set to take revenge and become a vampire hunter and along the way become the President Of America. A fast paced movie with sleek slo-mo fighting sequences.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Worth To watch it in 3D? : Yes 

(look out for 2 impressive fighting scenes [with massive special effects]: one is among a herd of running horses and the other is on the train, the finale )

NEWS: What's Next For Transformers 4

Michael Bay, the famous director whom brought us the successful Transformers franchise movies, shared during the recent launch of the Transformers Ride - 3D in LA that his 4th Transformers movie will be something out of this world! In short, he is taking the story into a brand new direction, most probably into the outer space. Besides, the director is looking into a brand new casts too, so, there might not be Shia LeBeouf's Sam in the 4th installment at all.

Once again, Bay claimed that this will be his final Transformers movie (which he claimed so for the last one too, Transformers : Dark of The Moon). Only time will tell whether this will really be his last but basing on this latest piece of information, it does mean that we are going to have a totally brand new Transformers.

1. Dredd [Sep 2012]:

Still remember the 1995 movie, Judge Dredd (starring Sylvester Stallone as title role)? This is the reboot after 17 years and the new Judge is Karl Urban. The poster looks simple yet stylish and the hot from oven trailer looks cool especially with its slo-mo scenes.

2. Resident Evil - Retribution (3rd trailers) [Sep 2012]:
This is the 6th installment of Resident franchise since 2002. Milla Jovovich continue to be the lead as Alice. What makes this installment special is the inclusion of the Chinese actress Li BingBing as Ada Wong.

3. Monsters University [2013]:
This is a reboot of the 2001 Monster Inc. animation. Looks more like a prequel as the story seems to be focusing on the days at the university.

Here are the TOP 5 Movies for the week ending 17th June 2012 (Sun).

SPECIAL NOTE (US): This week, the 2 new releases: Rock Of Ages (starring Tom Cruise) and That's My Boy (starring Adam Sandler) didn't live-up to the expectation and managed to climb up to the 3rd and 4th places (respectively) only. Madagascar 3 continue to top the charts in all markets for the second week. Even though Prometheus still comes in second in both US and Singapore market, but the drop in the tickets sale is massive!

The Amazing Spider-Man (Jul 2012)

Super-hero movie is here to stay! After the wildly successful of "The Avengers", here come the other highly popular super-hero franchise, The Amazing Spider-Man. To me, it is not a sequel or prequel, it is a reboot with brand new casts and director, I hope to have a whole new web slinging experience with this reboot. 

The movie will be released not only in 3D but also in IMAX 3D, it means there will be extravagance of action (mostly high rise building jumping and slinging by you know who) and special effect. This time round, the villain is The Lizard/Dr Curt Conners (portrayed by Rhys Ifans). Also, one thing to note is that the main casts aka the Spiderman/Per Parker (Andrew Garfield) and Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) are both the love interest on-screen as well as off-screen.
